Ugly Kid Joe – Cats In The Cradle…Tribute to Father

Cats In The Cradle has been sung by many artists and is considered a folk song in many countries. Ugly Kid Joe did it the best and this iconic version was a runaway topping the billboard charts for a very long time. The song played regularly on MTV especially in Asia and is so close to my heart. It defined an era in my life. That was time when Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Guns N Roses were redefining an era of grunge and rock music. Nirvana and Pearl Jam were Seattle based group and took the world by storm…Remember Jeremy, Alive and It seems like teen spirit…There was a lot of turmoil in my life…I was you can say a rebel with a cause…Remember James Dean…Yeah…Yeah…Yeah

And the cat’s in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
“When you comin’ home ?”
“Son, I don’t know when.
We’ll get together then.
You know we’ll have a good time then.”

Well, he came from college just the other day,
So much like a man I just had to say,
“I’m proud of you. Could you sit for a while ?”
He shook his head and he said with a smile,
“What I’d really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys.
See you later. Can I have them please ?”

I post this as I listen to the song in Ford library and remember my father…

And the cat’s in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
“When you comin’ home ?”
“Son, I don’t know when.
We’ll get together then.
You know we’ll have a good time then.”

Hey dad we will get together soon…hey dad we will get together soon…

I miss you and mom…

I’ve long since retired, my son’s moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
“I’d like to see you, if you don’t mind.”
He said, “I’d love to, Dad, if I could find the time.
You see my new job’s a hassle and the kids have the flu,
But it’s sure nice talkin’ to you, Dad.
It’s been sure nice talkin’ to you.”
And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me,
He’d grown up just like me.
My boy was just like me.
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)

My boy is just like me…my boy is just like me…my boy is just like me…
