The hallmark of a great national convention lies in the quality of speakers especially the inaugural speaker. GCNI Convention19 had stellar speakers exemplified by Dr. Bibek Debroy, the inaugural speaker at the convention.  The other speakers at the GCNI Convention19 inaugural session included Dr. Uddesh Kohli, Senior Advisor, UN Global Compact, Renata Dessallien, UN Resident Coordinator in India, Shashi Shanker, President GCNI & CMD, ONGC Group of Companies, Rajeev Dubey Chair-GCNI Present National Convention & Group President (HR & Corporate Services) & CEO (After -Market Sector) Member of the Group Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Vishvesh Prabhakar, MD-Operations & Sustainability, Accenture Strategy and Kamal Singh, Executive Director, GCNI. Dr. Bibek Debroy, is Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, chief adviser to honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on macroeconomic issues, and Padma Shri awardee. Dr. Bibek Debroy, whose talent will make Leonardo Da Vinci proud, is a leading development economist, game theory specialist, author, and one of the foremost scholars in Sanskrit. Widely known for versatility of talent, Dr. Bibek Debroy is known for his quantitative and artistic prowess, has featured in Limca book of records for his prolific and poetic translations of ancient sacred Hindu scriptures and is a speaker par excellence. I video recorded a part of Dr. Bibek’s inaugural speech using my smartphone to share his insights with everyone.

He is also member of NITI Aayog, the premier government policy think tank formed under the tutelage of Mr. Narendra Modi and headed by Mr. Amitabh Kant. NITI Aajoy has done a mind blogging job in implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) in India through impactful policy interventions and quantifying SGD’s for measuring and evaluating effects of the interventions.

Creation of an SGD India Index to map policies to respective SGDs with a numerical number ranging between 1 to 100 lays the scientific foundation of policy making in India. NITI Aayog’s SDG Index Baseline Report 2018 is the platinum standard of policies and interventions in social impact ecosystem in India mapped at local, state and union territories. The index constructed for 13 SDGs, works as ready reckoner for policymakers, businesses, civil society and the general public. India has done a commendable job in the last three years in SGD implementation in India but a lot has to be done.
