China COVID-19 Vaccine a Global Public Good

Xi Jinping has declared that the China COVID-19 vaccine will be a global public good. This is a wonderful initiative; however, scaling up the vaccination across the world and making sure that the vaccine reaches people affected by COVID-19 will be a herculean task. One good way will be to have other countries implement their COVID-19 vaccine a good public, at least at the country level or have a multi-stakeholders buy in. To offset the costs of social good, countries must introduce a COVID-19 tax through an increase in progressive taxation. Steps must be taken to make sure there is minimal corruption in the process. The policy to make vaccine a global public is an excellent step forward and will surely have a cascading effect on measures taken by other countries.
