Pathways to Future Energy

World Economic Forum shared a perspective on how the renewable energy sector is developing around the world. China turns out to be the biggest energy investor and leads by a mile. Wood Mackenzie estimates photovoltaic panel installations’ cumulative total for China to be 370GWdc by 2024. India ranks an impressive third with 105.44 GWdc. China is also the largest emitter of carbon dioxide through fossil fuels, with India not far behind. Another sector Nuclear energy, is being aggressively explored by the US and China. A caveat emptor here is Fukushima Daiichi in Japan, and hopefully, lessons can be learned from the disaster. The game-changer mentioned before is mastering fusion, and maybe the day is not far from now. Graph: Wood Mackenzie and WEF
