Mark Leon Goldberg and Rebecca Klege (an economist in Ghana pursuing her Ph.D. studies at the School of Economics, University of Cape Town, South Africa), were a part of a recent podcast which discussed the lack of electrical infrastructure in Rwanda. Barely 52 percent of Rwanda households have access to electricity. Rebecca believes that energy solutions like solar power, will provide efficient sources of electricity as well as sustainable development. She established a correlation between empowering women and energy access.
“Rather than asking how energy access empowers women, she examines how empowered women can promote energy access, and whether or not they do a better job of it than men.”
